| Fantasia Fair Donations Support the Needy |
Provincetown, Massachusetts, November 27, 2008 – Continuing their tradition of giving back to their home away from home, attendees of the
Fantasia Fair conference, raised $4,000 for the Soup Kitchen of Provincetown (SKIP). SKIP provides free meals to any individual in the
community who is in need and serves as a resource place for referrals to social programs for further help in all areas of need, such as
housing assistance.
The funds raised came from a variety of sources, including the profits from advertising sales in the conference's program guide and from
ticket sales to the annual Fantasia Fair Follies – an amateur cabaret and talent show. "We were all so grateful to performers in the show,
who donated all of their tips from the show. We were even more grateful to the audience, who responded to the needs of SKIP by tipping generously."
said Barbara Curry, the emcee of the Follies.
Wayne Ryerson, a member of the SKIP Board of Directors, thanked the Fair at their Annual Awards Banquet held at Michael Shay's. "I'm overwhelmed,"
he said. "This goes a long way toward helping many people in trouble." Fair Director Miqqi Alicia Gilbert said, "Provincetown is our home, and we
take care of our family."
Real Life Experience, Inc., the organization behind the annual Fantasia Fair conference, also announced a $400 donation to Help Our Women Now,
a non-profit organization in Provincetown that provides services to women with chronic and life-threatening illnesses. Every year, Fantasia Fair
makes a donation to this important service organization.
In previous years, Fantasia Fair has donated $3,500 to the Council on Aging, has purchased a defibrillator for the Provincetown Fire Department,
has made a major contribution to the new Library fund, and has regularly supports the UU Meeting House.
