The Fantasia Fair Follies
Unleashing the Divas!
Beautifully produced by a professional lighting and production company, the Follies programming for the evening will highlight some of the
community’s brightest new talents, both professional and amateur. This year the Fantasia Fair Follies will be a lavish experience held at its
traditional location in the recently renovated Crown & AnchorParamount Theater, located across the road from the Town Hall in the heart of
Ptown. Nearby bars and restaurants will be happily available before, during, and after for cocktails and toasts to celebrate the evening.
Every year the performers are delighted all the tips given to them in their performance to charity. In recent years, we made contributions to
the local soup kitchen, the town library, helped buy the fire department a defibrillator, as well as to the "Friends of the Council on Aging" -
an organization that helps seniors. We hope that you will tip generously!
If you've ever wanted to perform, this is a really fun way to get started. Break out your guitar, sing your favorite song, recite a dramatic
monolog or just pretend that you are Ashley Simpson and lip synch! If you are uncertain or nervous about performing, don't be! The audience is
always warm, welcoming, and out to have a good time. Not only that, but the Follies directors are wonderful coaches and they will help you

Our one-time director, the wonderful Evelyn Shade wrote the following notes about performing in the Follies. They’re certainly
still useful.
“I love seeing my dear friends up on stage enjoying themselves. But I do want everyone to know that it is so important that they rehearse
and learn their songs or acts thoroughly. The people of Provincetown are so dear and supportive, but they deserve a sincere effort from our
wonderful entertainers.
“Please plan your act in advance. Learn your music, if any, completely. Know it so well that you could sing it without the music. Wear something
colorful and dramatic. Try something daring for your on-stage persona. I adore Cher and Ms. Minnelli because of their flair. But Angela
Landsbury is also very striking on stage. And who can forget those sexy Spice Girls? They are so much fun.
“Rehearse a lot, and consult friends and family for suggestions and comments.
“I wish everyone could be accepted into the Follies but I am afraid there are limited openings. If your number is not polished, we may have to
ask you to try again next year. But do come and try out! I am so looking forward to seeing my dear friends and making new ones too.
Come on girls. Show ‘em what you’ve got!”
